Theory of passively mode-locked photonic crystal semiconductor lasers.
We report the first theoretical investigation of passive mode-locking in photonic crystal mode-locked lasers. Related work has investigated coupled-resonator-optical-waveguide structures in the regime of active mode-locking [Opt. Express 13, 4539-4553 (2005)]. An extensive numerical investigation of the influence of key parameters of the active sections and the photonic crystal cavity on the la...
متن کاملModelling colliding-pulse mode-locked semiconductor lasers
A discussion of three topics in the eld of non linear optics is presented We begin with the Colliding Pulse Mode locked CPM Quantum Well QW laser A large signal model consisting of a wave propagation equation for the electrical eld and a rate equation model for the material response is derived The wave propagation equation of the electrical eld is derived from Maxwell s equations in the slowly ...

damage. Again, the fsiled lasers could have been selected with a 200h burn-in, using (&) > 150% or degradation rates p > 2 x lO-3/h as a criterion. In summary, extension of the vertical near field and facet protection with ZnSe/Al,O, enhanced the facet stability. Long resonators allowed stable nionomode emission above 300mW. Aging tests at 40 and 70°C demonstrate that in this way, with output p...
متن کاملIntricate solitons state in passively mode-locked fiber lasers.
We report a novel spontaneous soliton pattern formation in a figure-of-eight passively mode-locked erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser. It consists in a condensate phase in which there is almost periodic arrangement of alternate crystal and liquid soliton phases. Thanks to an adapted ansatz for the electric field, we perform a reconstruction allowing to clearly identify the soliton distributio...
متن کاملAcoustic effect in passively mode-locked fiber ring lasers.
We present a theory of acoustically induced pulse interaction in a ring fiber laser cavity. In most cases the acoustic interaction leads to pulse bunching, but in some cases it leads to regular pulse spacing. Our results compare well with the experimental data.
